It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 16th Biennial
National Congress of the South African Society of Psychiatrists
on behalf of the Organising Committee.
The SASOP 2010
congress will be held at the brand-new East London International
Convention Centre (ICC), South Africa. The ICC is on the
Esplanade, a convenient 15 minutes drive from the East London
Airport. It offers a modern and welcoming Eastern Cape
setting for both local and international visitors in the
business and tourism sector. This superbly positioned beachfront
complex incorporates the luxurious Cascades Hotel and the
affordable Regent Hotel to compliment the convention centre
facilities. Both hotels offer panoramic views of the Indian
Ocean and East London's river port harbor. The ICC is located
close to a number of other hotels and guest houses, which
offer a range of accommodation options to suit everyone. A mere
20 minutes drive along the Eastern coastline takes you to the
serene Wild Coast.
An outstanding group of speakers have been
invited to share the benefits of their years of study, research
and experience with us. The scientific programme will include
the latest and most significant developments in research and
education.
The activities of the congress have been designed
not only to enrich your scientific knowledge, but to provide you

opportunity to re-establish old acquaintances, and forge new
