To All Young Psychiatrists
I am the chairperson of the steering committee of young psychiatrists.
We are in the process of establishing the young psychiatrists interest
group of SASOP as well as the young psychiatrist association of Southern
Africa. We are very keen on hearing your inputs in this process. I am of
the opinion that it is very important that we organize ourselves as
young psychiatrists so that we can address issues that affect us as a
group and also ensure that we are on par with our other African
colleagues who are very well organized and ready to represent Africa in
the world. We at the Southern Africa are getting left behind.
Within SASOP there are serious discussions about academic development
and the training of psychiatrists in South Africa. I am representing
young psychiatrists in the Academic Development Task Team of SASOP and I
require your input in this matter on the following areas:
- Whether the training of registrars is adequate or not
- Supervision is adequate or not
- Examinations
- Any other issue relating to training and examination
Please kindly reply to these issues urgently even if you have given me
